Abstract: Photocatalysis is the area responsible for the development of new synthetic processes using light as a source of energy. Most molecules are not able to absorb in the visible light spectrum region. Therefore, the use of photocatalysts acting as an antenna and transmitting this energy through electron transfer or energy transfer to other molecules, opens the door to the development of new chemical transformations in the region of the solar spectrum that reaches the Earth with greater intensity, thus optimizing the energy resources. Several activation methods offered by photocatalysis give access to a wide variety of chemical transformations.
