Resumen: Las obras de arte de diversas épocas, los libros de química clásicos, y las descripciones literarias de los laboratorios químicos, nos permiten una aproximación a la iconografía y a la historia de esas estancias sagradas, tal como los denominó Pasteur.

Abstract: Artworks of different ages, classical chemistry books, and literary descriptions of chemical laboratories, provide us with interesting materials to outline the iconography and the history of those sacred chambers, as Pasteur called them.
