Resumen
Resumen: En este artículo se introduce el campo del ARN interferente, tratando su origen, mecanismo, así como el papel que juega la química en este potente sistema de regulación de la expresión génica. En este sentido, se comentan diversas modificaciones químicas empleadas tanto para el estudio del mecanismo como para mejorar sus propiedades como agente terapéutico. Finalmente, se comentará el uso de modificaciones químicas en la obtención de información estructural del complejo proteico involucrado.

Abstract: In this paper the topic of RNA interference is introduced describing its origin, mechanism and the role of chemistry in this potent gene regulatory system. In this sense, the use of different chemical modifications is presented focusing on the mechanism studies and in the development of a new therapeutic tool. Finally, the use of chemical modifications to get structural information of the protein complex involved is also addressed.
