El sesquicentenario del Primer Congreso Internacional de Químicos

Resumen

Resumen: En 2010 se conmemora el sesquicentenario del Primer Congreso Internacional de Químicos (3-5 de septiembre de 1860) celebrado en la ciudad alemana de Karlsruhe. Ante el caos en que se hallaba sumida la Química, los más eminentes químicos europeos de la época fueron invitados para tratar de despejar el intrincado camino que impedía el progreso de la Química. Convocado por Kekulé, Weltzien y Wurtz, se llegó a importantes conclusiones –aunque no fueron inicialmente aceptadas por todos los participantes–, que permitieron el avance de la Química y de las demás ciencias relacionadas con ella. El gran triunfador del Congreso fue el químico italiano Stanislao Cannizzaro.

Abstract: In 2010 marks the sesquicentennial of the First International Congress of Chemists (3-5 September 1860) held at the German city of Karlsruhe. Given the chaos that was plunged the Chemistry, the most eminent European chemists of the era were invited to try to solve the intricate road that blocked the progress of Chemistry. Convened by Kekulé, Weltzien and Wurtz, they obtained important conclusions –although they were initially not accepted by all participants–, which allowed the improvement of Chemistry and other sciences related to it. The big winner of the Congress was the Italian chemist Stanislao Cannizzaro.
